Google My Business is Google’s free business listing service. It lets you display a profile of your business along with your website when someone searches for it in Google Search and Google Maps. The listing can include a description, address, opening hours, posts, reviews, and Q&A. Google My Business is an easy way for businesses to stand out in local SEO, and posts on GMB have been shown to increase traffic and improve search rankings. However, the fact that your Google My Business posts expire after 7 days means that you have to constantly go back into GMB and post something week after week, again and again.
Hootsuite and Google are both world-class companies and wanted to make sure their customers have a great experience. Hootsuite approached FreshWorks Studio to build an integration that allows users to connect their existing Google My Business (GMB) account to their Hootsuite account. The GMB integration app is available within Hootsuite's app directory and had several thousand users try it within the first week of launch.
Once the app is installed, a user can create streams within Hootsuite to monitor and respond to reviews and answer questions directly from within the Hootsuite interface. You can also add multiple app streams for managing different locations or listings in separate streams within your Hootsuite dashboard. In those streams you can create and send posts to your business listings, to provide updates on what’s new with your business. As with a native GMB post you can add an image by uploading directly or choosing one from Google Drive or Google photos, and select a call to action with a destination link for each post.
To engage with visitors to your local business, GMB managers are encouraged to respond to reviews and answer questions that people have asked. The Hootsuite-GMB integration makes this process easier than ever. In the questions stream of your Hootsuite dashboard click "Answer" below a question to provide an official response from the business. In the reviews stream you can monitor what people are saying about your business and reply to any review as the business owner by clicking the "Reply" button below a review.
